Alyssa new series 100th bride, she co stars with a Korean actor as a couple. About her experience with a Korean actor,

Alyssa said: “At first we used body language to communicate as there is no common language between us. But hes a very smart guy, he copied down whatever simple Chinese I taught him in a notebook, and he learnt it very fast. But for me, for every ten Korean words he taught me, I could only remember one, haha. After a month of filming, the two of them gradually started to communicate better. “There was a few times during filming, I added a few extra lines not from the script. But by looking at my facial expression and mouth movement, he managed to deduce what I was saying and responded correctly!!”

In 100th bride, Alyssa plays a role of a wedding planner and she has a singer and a sports newscaster who are both madly in love with her. Her boyfriend, the singer, is a cool but selfish person and loves her deeply. But he is easily seduced by other woman and makes mistakes. The sports newscaster love for her was honest and true. Regarding the two roles, Alyssa made a comment: “The two of them are like walking in this desert and sees a glass of water. The singer would say this water belongs to him naturally, whilst the sports newscaster would say seeing the glass of water is enough to quench his thirst and would give up the water to someone who needs it” Alyssa laughingly said: “ In real life im afraid to meet a lover who is like the singer. On the surface he treats u very well, under it he does other stuff”
Alyssa has always wanted to wear a wedding gown, but the heavy workload has consumed her time tremendously, leaving her no time to date. She said after finishing the filming of 100th bride, she would not hope for love and marriage. “Love has to be natural, the more u force or want it, and the more it won’t work.

The Movie:
The two leads lived in the same building next to eachother divided by 4 walls, but never met. This is because one has a habit of turning left and the other a habit of turning right. The eventually met during an earcthquake.

Gigi Leung (who Alyssa will portray) is a professional translator but is getting tired of the cheap novels she has to translate. Kam Shing Mo (who Lu Yi will portray) is a professional violinist who is tired of playing for audiences who can’t appreciate his talent.
The series Turn Left Turn Right after a little over a month of filming finally gave their very first media news conference. Alyssa, Lu Yi, the director and one or two other actors were on hand to answer questions.

Alyssa was finally relieved to be able to return to the real world on this series since it’s modern and people have been so used to seeing her in ancient clothing. When asked if she feels there’s a difference besides filming ancient and modern series she replied, “For certain there is a major distinction between the two. In comparison of the two, they each have extreme difference in terms of costumes, appearance, and way of acting.” And when asked her ideal Prince Charming she said she’s already has the type of guy she likes but that he’s definitely noT Lu Yi. She likes guys who loves animals and guys who are active and healthy and sunny and athletic. She was like, “It can’t be Lu Yi ’cause that guy does not play sports. He might be all you people’s Prince Charming but defnitely not mine. shh, he didn’t hear me say that right?” And when asked to do a comparison between the roles she plays and herself she said, “Well, people say I’m beautiful but I don’t think I’m beautiful. I feel I give people a sense of closeness, easy to get along with. And I’m nothing like the roles I play. I don’t have a imaginative mind like the character I play here. Nor do I romanticize within my mind. I have more of a guy’s character. Very simple, very casual.”

News 2 (April 14, 2004)

The tv version of Turn Left Turn Right added a few elements however still preserving the core of the storyline. The ones added are that Lu Yi’s role will have a father who owns his enterprise, and Alyssa will have a surrogate mother and who will have a thing going with his Dad. And also Alyssa’s role will have an elder sister with two guys in pursuit of her. Also in the movie, Gigi and Kam Shing Mo finally find each other again at the end of the movie during an earthquake, but the tv series will change that ending. and Ambrose Hsu who was originally a second role lead has now dropped to a cameo as the young version of Lu Yi’s father, due to complications of traveling within China with an American passport (strange huh)?!@#

Questions for Alyssa during the media blitz:

Q: Are there any similarities between yourself and the character you play in Turn Left Turn Right?

Alyssa: I don’t have a good imagination and I don’t dwell on my thoughts and make it so romantic. She is able to live in her creative made up world and be happy. I am, however, a very plain and simple person. I can be easily affected by the surroundings or certain elements, and then feed off of that. But Le Ping (her character’s name) is a very different girl, not your average girl from society. The way she lives does not seem to be relative to the world surrounding her.

Q: Which part of this role touched you the most?

Alyssa: Because I read the comic book for this storyline and I watched the movie, and so I was touched overall. I felt the girl in this storyline is very innocent, as if she’s always only living in her little dugout world. Her world is made up of this bubble molded together like clay and inside she’s got her dream, and she can never step out of this bubble, she lives in a very imaginative world. Because when I was in Taiwan I fell in love with Jimmy’s work (the writer of this story), and then I realize that Le Ping reminds me of Barbie dolls, you know the dolls that girls play with when we’re young, because she trusts her feelings so much, and she loves the lifestyle she’s leading and so I felt this type of girl is very adorable.

Q: Your feelings toward the comic drawn by Jimmy?

Alyssa: He conveys to me a type of comfortable feeling toward this world we live in. Actually before his works got put onto the movie and on tv, I already began collecting them. His works emits a sense of happiness and joy.

Q: Any memorable events during filming?

Alyssa: There was this huge rain scene we had to do and everyone had to run like crazy to get out of the rain, and so I’m from Taiwan and I rarely get to do scenes like this, and so I felt the process of filming the rain scene was extremely fun for me. Very deep impression it made for me.

Q: Why don’t you continue portraying “heroine roles” and yet selected to do this modern series instead?

Alyssa: Everyone is so familiar with my track record of playing “heroine” roles, but when I was approached with this role I was rather excited to take it on. I like it very much. There were too many roles before with the same topic as playing a “heroine”, all ancient roles, and so it’s not easy to come across a role with a modern setting, and it’s rare that I get to work with such an amazing group of behind the scenes people and talented actors, and I was so happy to make so many new friends; so filming this series thus far has been a very enjoyable experience.

Q: Are you bored portraying such a character as opposed to all your “heroine” roles?

Alyssa: No, I feel it’s all good, because I get to use a rather daily life type of perspective to play out this role. Because I love to act, and so would like to try all different type of roles. In an ancient role, it’s so easy to guess how this person’s personality will be by the way she dresses. so it’s rather limited. But in Le Ping’s case, although she looks like an average girl, but through her averageness, you are able to showcase a lot of different facets about her. So you can tell through my performance, an acting style that you haven’t seen before from me. I’ve developed and implemented a few new ways of acting which is something so completely different from the ancient roles you’re so accustomed to seeing me do, that’s why I’m so anxious for this series to be completed and let the audience see for themselves.

Q: Acting with Lu Yi?

Alyssa: It’s a very enjoyable collaboration thus far. We’re all young people so our interests are similar and so in this case as when we’re on the set, the atmosphere is very pleasant and we tend to be very naughty and playful, so yeah, it’s rather fun.
